Research Project: Disease-specific pre-clinical model for lung fibrosis

LHI Helmholtz Munich

18.05.2022

Are you interested in lung fibrosis using miniaturized in vitro models?
We, the laboratory for Pulmonary Aerosol Delivery at the Institute of Lung Health and Immunity (LHI) of Helmholtz Munich are working on the development of advanced in vitro models for the lung.
We aim to investigate lung fibrosis in a biomimetic coculture model of endothelial and epithelial cells using our novel BETA membrane.

We are looking for a Master’s student interested in lung fibrosis and lung bioengineering.

  • We can offer you a multi-disciplinary project with access to cutting-edge technologies
  • We will train you, however, at the same time you would work independently –of course, you will get the full support of your supervisor and he will have time for you.
  • You will work in a research team with international collaborations (language: English).

We expect you to have:

  • Cell culture experiences
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of immunofluorescence (IF) staining and confocal microscopy, and advanced cell culture models are an advantage

AND
You will know/improve:

  • Advanced cell culture models (mono- and coculture model) with primary cells
  • Analyze biological endpoints such as proliferation assays, IF staining, and confocal microscopy
  • Translation of preclinical results into clinical relevance
  • Handling of in vitro mini lung which is unique in the world.

Deadline: June 26, 2022
Location: Neuherberg
