Master Programs of the Faculty of Biology

The Faculty of Biology offers the following master's programs: Master of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB), Master of Science in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics (EES), Master of Science in Plant Sciences (PLS) and Master of Science in Neurosciences. Together with the Faculty of Medicine at LMU and supported by the Elite Network of Bavaria, the Faculty of Biology offers the Elite Master Program Human Biology – Principles of Health and Disease (MHB). The program Master of Science in Biochemistry is taught jointly with the Faculty for Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Science and the Master of Science in Bioinformatics is taught jointly with the Technical University of Munich.

All master’s programs are oriented towards highly motivated and globally diverse next-generation researchers. The Faculty of Biology is made up of internationally recognized researchers and award-winning instructors, and provides an excellent environment for studying and research. It gives students the opportunity to benefit from expertise in a wide variety of teaching and research topics, and to learn and practice state-of-the art methods.

The main part of all programs will be held at the modern Biocenter, part of the HighTechCampus in Martinsried. High profile institutions are situated in close vicinity, including the Max Planck Institutes for Biochemistry and Neuroscience, the HelmholtzZentrum Munich, the Faculty for Chemistry and Pharmacy, the Gene Center, the Research Center for Molecular Biosystems and Biomedical Center.
The Faculty of Biology with its rich research environment and network, together with a broad spectrum of research topics, integrated classical disciplines and modern techniques, allows for students to be trained at the pulse of current research and to introduce them to multiple professional perspectives.
